The Kybalion
The Kybalion was published in 1908 and authored by “The Three Initiates.” I have come across rumors that it may have actually been authored by William Walker Atkinson, the lawyer, occultist, and author of one of my favorite books, “Your Mind, and How To Use It.”
The Kybalion is a book about Hermetic traditions, which allegedly came from the teachings Hermes Trismegistus. Hermes was then deified by the Greeks as Hermes and by the Ancient Egyptians as Thot.
These hermetic traditions deal with claims that the universe is mental and that alchemical transmutations are actually talking about the transmutation of mental states and not merely the attempt to change base metals into gold.
The Kybalion lays out, in great detail, the 7 Hermetic principals.
- THE PRINCIPLE OF MENTALISM.
- THE PRINCIPLE OF CORRESPONDENCE.
- THE PRINCIPLE OF VIBRATION.
- THE PRINCIPLE OF POLARITY.
- THE PRINCIPLE OF RHYTHM.
- THE PRINCIPLE OF CAUSE AND EFFECT.
- THE PRINCIPLE OF GENDER.
